Indoor Shooting

Now that the outdoor season is drawing to a close, we will be moving our shooting back inside.

Indoor shooting will be commencing on:

Thursday 17th September from 7:30pm until 10:30pm @ the Maccabi Centre, Giffnock

Moving to the Thursday night gives us the opportunity to shoot for 3 hours, instead of 2.  Also, we will be starting an hour earlier which may suit some of the younger members.

AIUK Ironman 2008 event

Giffnock Archers are once again hosting the Scottish leg of the Archery-Interchange Ironman competition.

This is a nationwide event, and great fun to compete in.   The competition is shot over 7 dozen arrows @ 30m, using an 80cm target face on Sunday 28th December

In order to shoot in the Ironman, you must be registered with Archery interchange UK (Free).  For further details, click here

West of Scotland Championships 10th Feb. 2008
This was a great competition for the club.  We had 6 people shooting the event (4 recurve, 1 Longbow, 1 Compound), and another 2 folk wanting to shoot.

On top of the numbers shooting, we also had 2 Gold medal winners!!!  Congratulations to Bruce Lockhart for Gold in the Longbow category, and to Mark Franks for Gold in the Novice Category.

Mention should also got to Ken O'Hagan & Mark (again...), who both shot superb PB's

AIUK Ironman event

Giffnock Archers were the proud hosts of the Scottish leg of the 2007 Archery-Interchange Ironman competition.

A great day was had by all, especially Giffnock's David Brown, who received a bronze medal in the Traditional Category.  The competition is shot nation wide which makes the 3rd place more pleasing.

Photos from the event can be seen in the image Gallery

New Club colours and badge

After many months of discussion, the club has finally decided on official colours & a new club badge.

The colours have been registered with GNAS and will be available to wear from 1st October.

SAA Outdoor Novice Championships - Penicuik
At the recent SAA U21 & Novice championships at Penicuik, Giffnock's very own Alistair McIntosh claimed the crown of Outdoor Novice Champion 2007.

Scoring a respectable 378 for a Long national round was enough to take the title.

Awkward conditions - swirling wind and slight rain - proved a challenge, as did the 80yrd distance.  Neither Alistair or Giffnock's other entrant - Mark Franks - had shot 80yrds previous to the competition.  However, both enjoyed the challenge.

SAA Indoor Novice Championships - Montrose
Well done to Mark Franks & Alistair McIntosh, who finished 2nd & 3rd at the recent indoor novice champs.

Mark scored a new PB with 504, while Alistair fell a good bit short with 484.

A good day was had by both archers, even though Mr Franks' navigational skills were called into question!!!
